Check out this great Oregonian article highlighting Evergreen CC member Cathy Cummins: link. Cathy is a former member of the US Judo team who is currently training to compete for the USA Paralympic curling team. Also, check out this link for another article describing Cathy’s recent efforts to raise money to help fight ALS.
You can help Cathy (and ECC curler Bill Gray) train for the USA Paralympic trials by…. curling! Here is a note from Cathy explaining how:
Hi,
I have big dreams as an “Olympic Hopeful” again. I could sure use your help!
I am one of 12 competing for one of 5 spots on the USA Paralympic Curling Team in October, and I need as much practice time on the ice as possible.
Arnie has generously arranged ice time on Sundays at the Lloyd center rink from 6:30-8:30 PM starting Sunday August 4th.
There are 3 extra sheets available and I would love to have you or your team use the additional ice to help defray the ice costs.
Curl each Sunday for games, practice or just to cool off from the summer heat!
Please contact Arnie Iwanick or Stephen Hart for details and to reserve your spot for some summer curling!
Cathy
