New ECC Curling Rink Receives Lockers from Forest Grove High School

Thanks go out to Forest Grove High School and Evergreen Curling Club members Bruce Joncas, Steve Liske and Doug Schaak who teamed up to acquire dozens of donated lockers for ECC’s new dedicated curling rink.  Bruce Joncas is the Project Engineer for a $32 Million renovation project at the Forest Grove High School. When the project called for the removal and disposal of several hundred lockers, he thought of ECC and asked if we would like some FREE lockers for our new club. We jumped all over that, as full-sized lockers of this type typically run about $150 to $200 new.

“These are sturdy lockers that will serve us well for a long, long time,” said Doug.

Yesterday (Saturday, June 23, 2012), Doug and Steve joined Bruce to remove the lockers and transport them to a temporary storage facility. From 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, the three of them worked hard as  they dismantled, carted, sent down an elevator, carted some more, transferred, transported, unloaded and placed into storage: 28 full-sized lockers (5′ tall), 14 half-sized lockers and 84 cubby-hole lockers. They also set aside 20 more full-sized lockers that we hope to transport directly to Evergreen’s Greentree location later this summer.

Way to go guys, for thinking of ECC! With a little help from our members, keeping their eyes open for opportunities like this and lending a hand, we’ll be well on our way to building a dedicated curling club that we’ll all be proud of!
