One week after hosting the Women’s Club MoPac playdowns, ECC is ready to host 18 teams for the Men’s’ MoPac playdowns this weekend. It’s an important step in the club’s evolution from playing on arena (shopping mall)  ice to our new dedicated three-sheet rink. And then, tonight, on the eve of MoPac playdowns,  some yahoos from the power company mess with the wiring of the area, and then we have a blackout. This was during a Learn to Curl event — I hope these aspiring curlers don’t think that a power outage is part of our plan! But all is under control. It was all hands-on-deck tonight, in between phoning power companies, calling in help for ice maintenance, etc. On the eve of a big event we rallied. Our crack Ice Ops team worked every single minute… That’s more drama than we anticipated! Come to the Club this weekend to see some great curling in the Men’s MoPac playdowns and to hang out with your curling community.
